Colton Hammond, TLMFT (he/him)

Hi, my name is Colton.
In 2015, during a difficult battle with anxiety, I came to understand the power of asking for help. I was desperate for freedom, and with the guidance of a therapist, I found it.
My healing journey left me supremely interested in the study of mental wholeness. In 2017, I set out to complete an undergraduate degree in Psychology, followed immediately by a Master of Arts in Marriage & Family Therapy in 2020.
Since then, I have completed a number of trainings for trauma treatment and relational health. I hope to be a key resource for clients seeking more fulfilling relationships with themselves, others, and the world.

Meet Colton

Colton is a Pre-Licensed Therapist with a degree in Marriage & Family Therapy from Trevecca Nazarene University. He passionately provides a high level-of-care for adults struggling to find connection to themselves and others. With a holistic approach to trauma, Colton knows the importance of working with trauma in the nervous system, often using tools such as EMDR, Brainspotting, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and Somatic Exercises with clients. Colton also has a growing interest is working with psychedelics and supporting clients who engage with psychedelic medicine to prepare for and integrate these experiences. He works closely with Melanie Reese to learn how to use his therapy skills to support clients in this very specific context.

Before joining the team at Trauma Therapy of Nashville, Colton facilitated recovery groups and worked with individuals suffering from childhood trauma, relational distress, and addiction.

Colton is a natural! He is very intuitive and has such a grounding presence. His ability to attune to the needs of a client and provide a safe container to process is beautiful to witness. I think it’s important for therapists to continually engage in their own personal healing. Colton digs deep within himself and this allows him to walk with others into the difficult and unknown. I’m grateful to have him on our team!
