Meet Kaki!
Graduate Counseling Intern | Brainspotting Practitioner | Trauma-Informed & Attachment-Focused Clinician
Kaki came to therapy from a former life as an archivist, where she found meaning in preserving the stories of people’s lives.
Over time she realized she wanted to be part of shaping those stories while they were still unfolding, helping people make the most of their lives while they are still living it.
Growing up with two therapists as parents, the work of examining emotional patterns and inner experience was woven into her everyday life, and becoming a parent herself gave her the courage to step into the field.
Her Clinical Focus
Kaki is joining us from the Counseling Program at Trevecca University, here in Nashville, TN. She is drawn to trauma work because trauma is both common and highly treatable, yet it often leaves people feeling isolated and stuck. She believes there is enormous potential for healing when that stuckness is met with attunement and care.
While she is here to get a variety of experiences with clients, her clinical interests include attachment, grief, and the way early experiences shape how we move through the world as adults. She is trained in Brainspotting and is continuing to build her foundation in somatic and relational approaches.
How She Works
In session, Kaki tends to follow the client’s lead. She trusts that clients are the experts on their own lives and already hold much of what they need to create change. She brings a grounded, contemplative presence, and hopes her clients leave feeling understood, capable, and free to show up as themselves.
Outside the Office
Outside of the office, Kaki can be found chasing after her toddler, digging in the garden, watching old movies, and falling down research rabbit holes across music, history, and vintage fashion.
Kaki is currently practicing under the supervision of Melanie Reese, LMFT, CCTP.
Session Rates
- 50 min (1-hr) Therapy Session: $60
- 90 min (1.5-hr) Therapy Session: $90
